Mirleft waves roll in year-round, but the feel of each season is different. If you're wondering about the best time to surf in Mirleft, here’s what to consider by season, depending on your surf level and vibe.

BEST TIME TO SURF IN MIRLEFT: A SEASONAL GUIDE
Mirleft is lucky to have surfable waves throughout the year. But depending on your experience level—and the kind of atmosphere you’re looking for—some seasons may suit you better than others.
Here’s a breakdown to help you choose when to visit:
WINTER (November – February)
Best for: Intermediate to advanced surfers
Winter brings the biggest and most consistent swells. It’s the peak surf season in southern Morocco. The waves are more powerful, and the lineups are still uncrowded compared to more famous spots.
Water and air are cooler (wetsuit needed), but the light is soft and golden. Great if you're looking for solid surf and a peaceful rhythm.
SPRING (March – May)
Best for: All levels
Conditions start to mellow. The water warms up a bit, and there’s a nice balance between good waves and fewer people. It's a beautiful time—wildflowers bloom, days are longer, and you can surf in the morning and enjoy calm sunsets in the evening.
Perfect for those wanting reliable surf and a more laid-back local vibe.

SUMMER (June – August)
Best for: Beginners, longboarders, and chill sessions
Smaller swells and lighter winds mean it’s ideal for learning. The ocean is warmer, and the atmosphere is relaxed. If you’re coming for a mellow escape with easy beach days and a slower pace, this is your season.
Just note: summer is also when locals and Moroccan tourists spend more time by the sea—expect more people on the beach, though not necessarily in the waves.
AUTUMN (September – October)
Best for: All levels – especially returning surfers
Swells begin to pick up again, and the water’s still warm. It’s a favorite time for many: consistent surf, beautiful light, and the town comes alive again after the slower summer. Ideal if you want to reconnect with the ocean after a break.
A Note on Conditions
Mirleft has many surf spots nearby, so even if the main beach is flat or too big, there's often a good wave somewhere close. Local guiding helps you find the best place each day.
